Aer Lingus

Overview

Founded in 1936, Aer Lingus is an Irish airline that operates 46 Airbus aircrafts in total. With hubs located in Belfast International Airport, Cork Airport, Dublin Airport, and London Gatwick Airport, the airline serves the continents of North America, Europe, and even Africa with “Enjoy Your Flight” as its proud slogan.

Aer Lingus is actually considered Ireland’s flag carrier airline. With its headquarters based in Dublin, Ireland, its parent group is actually Aer Lingus Group plc. Ryanair owns 29.4% of the airline while the Irish government owns 25.4% of the venture. Aer Lingus’s focus cities are Shannon Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport with destinations amounting to 69 in total. At present, the airline has over 4,000 people in its employ with reported revenues reaching €1.3 billion and a total of 9.3 million in transferring passengers back in 2007. Today, the airline boasts of a mixed business model that provides low-fare services aboard its North African and European routes, as well as full-service two-class flights for their transatlantic routes.

Products and Services

For its short-haul routes, Aer Lingus provides single economy class service while for its long-haul routes, the 2-class Premier and Economy service is provided. The airline is also a member of the Gold Circle Club. Membership gives passengers access to special reservation services, exclusive airport lounges, and other special services, such as dedicated check-in areas and advanced seat preferences.

Aer Lingus flies from Dublin to North America, via Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Orlando, New York (JFK), and Washington Dulles. The airline also flies from Shannon to North America, via Chicago, Boston, and New York at the JFK.

Short-haul Flights

Some of the airline’s flights operate seasonally. Aer Lingus flies from Dublin to the UK, Austria, the Balearic Islands, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Canary Islands, the Channel Islands, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Switzerland.

From Belfast, Aer Lingus flies to the UK, the Canary Islands, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, and Spain.

From Cork, Aer Lingus flies to the UK, Aer Lingus flies to the UK, the Canary Islands, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland.

From London Gatwick, Aer Lingus flies to Austria, Ireland, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland.

Aer Lingus Fleet

The airline’s fleet is comprised of several airbus models. The Airbus A320-200 aircraft is used for African and European routes. The Airbus A320-200, meanwhile, is used for just European routes. For routes to Boston, New York, Shannon, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Dublin, the Airbus A330-200 is used. For routes to Boston, Shannon, Orlando, Chicago, Malaga, and Dublin, the Airbus A330-300 is used.
