Overview
Founded in 1959, China Airlines is considered the flag carrier of the Republic of China (Taiwan). China Airlines is not directly owned by the state at all. Rather, 54% of the airline belongs to the China Aviation Development Foundation. This foundation, in turn, belongs to the government of the Republic of China. This means that the airline’s chairman is not obliged to report directly to the Legislative Yuan.
China Airlines’ main hub is at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, with focus cities in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, and Kaohsiung International Airport. Its frequent flyer program is the Dynasty Flyer, with Dynasty Lounge as its member lounge and Mandarin Airlines for its subsidiary. With a fleet size of 67, China Airlines travels to 71 destinations under its parent company, China Aviation Development Foundation. From its headquarters based in Taipei, Taiwan, the airline operates according to its company slogan, “We Blossom Every Day.”
Company Profile
With a fleet of just a couple of PBY Amphibians, China Airlines was founded and established back in December 16, 1959. At the time, the Republic of China (ROC) government completely owned the airline. The 60s saw the airline establishing its first domestic and international flights. Since then, the airline has been expanding in terms of domestic and international routes.

China Airlines Codeshare Agreements
As of May 2008, the airline has established codeshare agreements with the following: Alitalia via SkyTeam, Delta Airlines via SkyTeam, Czech Airlines via SkyTeam, Garuda Indonesia, Korean Air via SkyTeam, Northwest Airlines via SkyTeam, Thai Airways International via Star Alliance, Vietnam Airlines, and Deutsche Bahn.

The airline also offers private bus services from airports to certain areas in America. A bus route is provided for passengers to going to JFK International Airport from Edison in New Jersey, Chinatown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Fort Lee, Parsippany-Troy Hills. For passengers going to San Francisco International Airport from Cupertino and Milpitas in California, a bus route is also provided. Also, service is available for passengers going to Los Angeles International Airport from the Rowland Heights area and Monterey Park.
