Airline Overview

China Eastern Airlines is one of the important airlines in China. During the past decades, it survived in the competitive environment of China aviation industry and become a leader now. The Eastern Miles plan is implemented for the company to establish a relationship with passengers and turn them a frequent passenger of the airline. Different types of incentives are provided by China Eastern, such as the extra luggage allowance. This matches with the company slogan, which is ‘travelling the globe, making dreams come true’.

Company Profile

China Eastern was found in 1988. Since the airline industry in China was controlled by the government, the company followed the policies of the government and was operated according to the general direction set by the government. It became the first airline in China after it took over the China General Aviation in 1997. After that, it continued to take over some of the airlines in China which were making a loss. Then, it continued to cut down the overlapped routes and evolved to the current China Eastern Airlines.

Now, China Eastern has more and more cooperation plans with other airlines over the world. It aims at acting as one of the bridges to connect foreign passengers to China and work for the growth of China tourism.

China Eastern has the major hubs located in Shanghai. Two of the airports in Shanghai are the hubs of this airline. It also has a major hub located in Kunming in China.

Fleet

The fleet of China Eastern is mainly composed of Boeing and Airbus aircrafts. Common models like Airbus A330 and Boeing 737 are owned by the airline and there are a lot of aircrafts which are used for carrying passengers. Therefore, delays are not common for the airline because it has sufficient capability to deal with the emergencies happened at anytime.

Destinations

China Eastern Airlines gets a wide network of connection to airports in North America, Asia and Australia. It also tried to use the network within China to build businesses. Passengers can take flights of China Eastern to travel from Shanghai to other parts of China. As one of the leaders in China, it operated flights from Shanghai to New York and it was the non-stop route. This helped Shanghai to become one of the important hubs in the world. Other places in US like Hawaii also belong to the network of China Eastern.
