Continental Airlines is actually one of the oldest airline companies in the industry. Founded back in 1931, the airline was once known as Varney Speed Lines. Flight operations commenced July 15, 1934. Continental Airlines has hubs at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It has OnePass for its frequent flyer program, with the Presidents Club as its member lounge. Its alliances are SkyTeam and Star Alliance and its subsidiary is Continental Micronesia. With a fleet size of 352, Continental Airlines flies to more than 280 destinations worldwide. Operating under the slogan, “Work Hard. Fly Right.”, the airline is currently based at Houston, Texas, USA.

Continental Airlines, Inc. is an American certificated air carrier. In terms of revenue passenger miles, the airline is actually the 4th-largest in the world and has been operating in accordance with its corporate slogan since 1998.
Continental Airlines is actually a minority owner of another airline, ExpressJet Airlines. ExpressJet Airlines uses the trade name of Continental Express for its operations, but it is still separately managed and is very well a separate publicly-traded company.
In 2005, Continental Airlines became an active member of SkyTeam. Through SkyTeam, the airline participates with Delta Airlines, Aeromexico, Air France, Northwest Airlines, KLM, and Alitalia. Expectedly having codeshare agreements with fellow SkyTeam partner airlines, Continental Airlines also has codeshare agreements with Amtrak rail services. Together, they serve certain cities in the northeastern portion of America, having an American helicopter fly out to Manhattan, and then on towards French destinations via SNCF French Rail.
In January 2009, however, Continental Airlines announced its plans to depart from the SkyTeam Group on October 2009, as well as its intentions of joining Star Alliance soon after that departure.

First Class service is offered on the airline’s domestic flights. BusinessFirst, however, is offered on Transpacific/Transatlantic flights.
