Delta Airlines

Overview

It was in 1927 when Delta Airlines was founded and first established. It was primarily known as Huff-Daland Dusters when it was founded in Monroe, Louisiana. However, the airline did not commence flight operations until July 17, 1929.

Delta Airlines has several hubs located in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Salt Lake City International Airport, and John F. Kennedy International Airport. With SkyMiles as its frequent flyer program, Delta Airlines has Delta Sky Club as its member lounge and has established an alliance with SkyTeam as well. The airline has several subsidiaries, such as Compass Airlines, Comair, Delta AirElite, Delta Shuttle, Northwest Airlines, and Mesaba Airlines.

Having a fleet size of approximately 440, Delta Airlines flies to as many as 375 destinations from its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

Company Profile

Delta Airlines operates an extensive network for both domestic and international flights. The airline flies to North America, South America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, Africa, and even the Middle East. Presently, Delta Airlines has already initiated plans to expand its route network to Sydney, Australia, making the airline the only US carrier serving all continents, exclusive of Antarctica. Delta Airlines is also the solitary major US carrier serving the continent of Africa.

At present, the airline and its growing number of subsidiaries operates flights to more than 375 destinations in approximately 88 countries.

The hub in Atlanta, Georgia is the busiest airline hub – not just for Delta Airlines but also for the whole world. In fact, Delta Airlines carries the most number of passengers across the Atlantic Ocean than any other international carrier. Major transatlantic gateways for the airline include New York, Cincinnati, and Atlanta.

Current Developments
