Overview
EOS Airlines, Inc. was one of the short-lived airline companies to ever hit the industry. Founded in 2004, the airline has just 4 years’ worth of experience in the industry with its foreclosure back in April 27, 2008. The airline’s headquarters were based in Purchase, New York and its main hubs were located at the London Stansted and the JFK International Airport. With Club48 as both its frequent flyer program and its member lounge, EOS Airlines had a fleet size of just 6 with merely 2 destinations. The company once operated with the company slogan of, “Uncrowded. Uncompromising. UNAIRLINE.”
Company Profile and History
EOS Airlines was actually founded in 2004 by Dave Spurlock, who once worked for British Airways as the director of strategy there. When EOS Airlines started out, it was once known as Atlantic Express, but the following year, the company decided to change its mane to EOS. Operations were started between New York and London Stansted. The first flight out was launched on October 18, 2005.
On March 13, 2008, the airline launched its magazine, the “eosCLASS” in London. With this launching, the airline decided to drop “Airlines” from their name, officially changing it to just EOS. They also decided to modify their slogan, making it into “EOS – Uncrowded. Uncompromising. UNAIRLINE.” The Chief Lifestyle Officer back then, Adam Komack, revealed these changes.
EOS Airlines Fleet
Compared to the fleets of other airlines, EOS Airlines did not have really that large a fleet size. In fact, as of April 2008, the fleet just consisted of 6 Boeing 757-200 models. On the average, the fleet’s age was 12.7 years.
These Boeing 757s were given 48-seats in a professional and convenient all-business class configuration. All of the seats were given fold-out tables and the seats themselves were arranged in such a way that passengers would easily have face-to-face conversations while taking their flights. Business meetings were held aboard the aircraft.
When the eosCLASS magazine was launched, it was actually revealed that should the airline have continued its operations, it would have expanded its fleet to 8 planes. Two would have been added by the end of 2007, and another two by the end of 2008.
EOS Airlines Destinations
Throughout its short-lived existence, the airline operated flights between JFK International Airport and London Stansted Airport. On the average, there were roughly two to four flights between these destinations each day. On June 20, 2007, EOS Airlines announced that it successfully ranked 4th amongst the airlines that are most frequently scheduled for the London-New York City route.
There were four new routes that were to be launched in 2008: UAE, UK, USA, and Guyana.
