Airline Overview

Hainan Airlines is the airline headquartered in Haikou. It is regarded as the largest airline owned by the private company in China. In terms of fleet size, the company is also the 4th among all airlines in China currently. There are scheduled flights for domestic and international market operated by the airline.

The major base of the company is at the Haikou Meilan International Airport. There are also hubs like Beijing Capital International Airport, Taiyuan Wusu Airport, etc.

In the world, there are some airlines which are rated as the 5-star airlines. Hainan Airlines belongs to one of these. It is also the first airline rated at this level in China. This helps the airline to become one of the popular airlines in China.

Airline Profile

Hainan Airlines was founded in 1989. It was originally the Hainan Province Airlines. At that time Hainan was one of the largest special economy zones in China. Therefore, the development of this airline was smooth and there were a lot of passengers using this airline to travel to Hainan and establish their business bases in this zone. Over the past years, the company evolved to privately-owned and this helped the company to gain a greater flexibility in maintaining the business operation plans.

The company has a program called Fortune Wings Club, which is one of the programs used by the company to target the frequent flyers in the business. Membership of the program is divided to two classes, namely the silver and the gold membership. Passengers can accumulate the number of flights that they have taken over a period of time and they can sign up for the membership. This is the strategy used by the company to offer incentives so that their passengers would become their loyal support of the company.

Hainan Airlines has a mixed fleet. It has Airbus A330-200, A330-300, A340-600, Boeing 737-300, 737-400, etc, as the aircrafts for serving passengers. It would try to order new aircrafts to suit the growth of the airline in the future.

Hainan Airlines has a wide range of destinations. It has established linkage with airports in Khartoum, Budapest, Irkutsk, Sydney, Singapore, Okinwa, Luanda, etc. These are the destinations located outside China. Within China, Hainan Airlines also has a lot of destinations, such as Xian, Yichang, Xuzhou, Nanchang, Shantou, Guilin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, etc. Therefore, the company has a great network in maintaining the aviation operation.
