KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

Overview

Established as early as 1919, the headquarters of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is at Amstelveen, the Netherlands under its parent company, Air France-KLM. Its main hub is at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and it operates with the company slogan of “Journeys of Inspiration”. With Flying Blue for its frequent flyer program and KLM Crown Lounge for its member lounge, the airline has already forged an alliance with SkyTeam. Using its fleet size of over 175, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flies to over 125 destinations worldwide.

Company Profile

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the Netherlands’ national airline and is a subsidiary of Air France-KLM. The airline operates both domestic and international passenger and cargo flights to over 90 destinations worldwide and is actually the oldest airline to be using its original line for its operations. As of March 2007, the airline has more than 30,000 people under its employ.

The 2004 merger of KLM with Air France brought forth the creation of Air France-KLM. This merger product is incorporated under French law and its headquarters is based at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Both of these airlines still operates its flight services using their distinct brand names.

Through SkyTeam, Air France-KLM is partnered with Aeroméxico, Delta Airlines, Czech Airlines, Korean Air, Northwest Airlines, Alitalia, China Southern Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Aeroflot.

Codeshare Agreements

As of December 2007, KLM has had several codeshare agreements with fellow airline companies.
