Korean Air was founded in 1962 and was privatized just 7 years after its establishment, which was in 1969. The airline’s main hubs operate at Gimpo International Airport and Incheon International Airport, while its focus cities are Gimhae International Airport and Jeju International Airport. With SKYPASS for its frequent flyer program, Korean Air’s member lounge is actually Korean Air Lounge itself. Forming an alliance with SkyTeam, just like a lot of its fellow airline companies, Korean Air has a subsidiary company in Jin Air as well. With its fleet size of approximately 124 aircrafts, inclusive of cargo aircrafts, Korean Air flies to over 115 destinations worldwide. With its parent company Hanjin Group, Korean Air’s headquarters is located at Seoul, South Korea, operating in accordance with its company slogan, “Excellence in Flight”.
Company Profile
Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd., commonly known as Korean Air, is actually the de facto flag carrier of South Korea, and is also the biggest airline in the whole of South Korea. With its global headquarters situated in Seoul, Korea, the airline actually has an international passenger division that is related to its subsidiary cargo division. Both divisions cater to approximately 130 cities in more than 45 countries. It domestic division, on the other hand, caters to roughly 20 destinations as well. Presently, the airline is amongst the top 20 airline companies when it comes to the population of passengers carried.
Korean Air Slogans
The airline has gone through several slogans from the time it started operating back in 1962. From “Welcome to my world,” to “The Spirit of Korea is in the Air,” and even to “Beyond your imagination” in the 1990s, the airline’s slogan is now “Excellence in Flight”. Interestingly, when the airline was using, “Welcome to my world”, Elvis Presley’s very own song entitled, “Welcome to My World” was played whenever the planes took off and landed.
