Established back in 1957, Olympic Airways has gained quite a reputation, in spite of its small size in the industry. One of the younger airlines in the industry, Olympic Airways has its main operational hub located at Athens International Airport and its focus city is at Thessaloniki International Airport, the “Macedonia”. The airline’s frequent flyer program is the Icarus Frequent Flyer Program, while its member lounge is the Olympic Airways “Melina Merkouri” and the “Aristotle” lounges.
The airline is not really that big a company, especially when you compare it with other existing airline companies in the industry. Its fleet size amounts to merely 39, but in spite of this small size, it does offer flights catering to over 75 destinations. Operating under its parent company, Olympic Airlines S.A., the airline’s headquarters is situated at Athens, Greece.

Olympic Airways is actually the flag carrier airline of Greece itself. Being based in Athens, Greece, the airline operates domestic flights amounting to 35 in total. Apart form that, it also offers flights that cater to 39 global destinations. With its main base being Athens International Airport, the airline’s main hubs are at Thessaloniki International Airport, commonly known as the “Macedonia”, and the Rhodes International Airport, commonly known as the “Diagoras”. As of December 2007, the airline has had approximately 8,500 people under its employ.
The airline has established quite a reputation and has even been accredited by the IATA together with the IOSA for its superb safety practices.

In Africa, the airline travels to Egypt and South Africa. In Asia, the airline travels to Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. In Europe, the airline travels to Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, several airports and destinations in Germany, homeland Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. In North America, the airline travels to several airports in Canada and in the United States of America. In the US, the airline touches base at the John F. Kennedy International Airport located in New York City.
