Porter Airlines is an airline headquartered at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. It is a regional airline which operates the scheduled flights between Toronto and some locations in Canada as well as in the USA.
Porter Airlines uses the VIPorter program to keep their clients. This is a frequent flyer program which can help passengers accumulate points and redeem the points for some free flights. On the other hand, the company also provide free shuttle bus services to pick up passengers from some city airports to the hotels in those cities. Company Profile
The launch of Porter Airlines was actually controversial. In the early 2002, the Toronto Port Authority failed to operate with a profit. Therefore, the authority planned to improve the airport and to expand the usage of the airport so as to gain profits. There is a new terminal in the airport and the authority decided to run a regional airline there. Deluce, the CEO of the Porter’s, got the right to operate the regional airline there. But the expansion plan clash with the passenger ferry so the plan was brought to the City Council of Toronto. After a serious argument, it was decided that the plan of the airport should be approved.
The company gets a 4-star rating from Skytrax, which shows that the airline is capable of delivering quality services for passengers. This is also one of the strategies adopted by the company for gaining support from customers. It tried to introduce good services and cheap tickets to attract customers. Compared with some of the low-cost airlines which cannot provide quality services, Porter Airlines is the example of companies which can deliver quality services while keeping low cost of the operation.
