Overview

Founded in 1920, Qantas Airlines has quite the long range of experience in the industry. Its main hubs are located at Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport. Not only that, the airline has secondary hubs located at Adelaide Airport, Perth Airport, Brisbane Airport, and Singapore Changi Airport. Qantas Airlines’ focus cities include Cairns International Airport, Darwin International Airport, and London Heathrow Airport.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer is the airline’s frequent flyer program, with the Qantas Club as its member lounge. Being one of the members of the Oneworld Alliance, Qantas Airlines has several subsidiaries as well. These include QantasLink, Jetconnect, Jetstar Airways, Qantas Defence Services, Qantas Freight, Qantas Holidays, Q Catering, and Express Ground Handling.

With a fleet size of 136, Qantas Airlines operates flights to approximately 38 destinations worldwide from its headquarters located at Sydney, Australia. This figure goes up to 144 destinations when you include the airline’s subsidiaries. The slogan the company works with is, “The Spirit of Australia”.

Company Profile

Being the national flag carrier of Australia, Qantas Airlines was originally named just QANTAS, which is actually an acronym for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services. Early on, Qantas was given the nickname of “The Flying Kangaroo”. It is the largest airline operating in Australia and is currently the 2nd oldest airline that has been continuously operating. Qantas Airlines is just behind KLM in this. Just this year, Qantas Airlines was voted the 6th best airline by Skytrax, the renowned research consultancy firm.

The airline’s main international hubs are located at Brisbane Airport, Melbourne Airport, and Sydney Airport. Its domestic hubs, on the other hand, include the aforementioned airports, as well as the airports of Adelaide, Cairns, and Canberra.

Qantas Airlines Fleet

The airline makes use of Airbus and Boeing aircraft models for both its domestic and international flights. The Airbus models include A330-200, A330-300, and A380-800. The Boeing models, meanwhile, include 737-300, 737-400, 737-800, 747-300, 747-400, 747-400ER, 747-400F, 767-300ER, and 787-9.
