Overview

Established in 1946, Scandinavian Airlines has hubs located in Copenhagen Airport, Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, and Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. Its frequent flyer program is EuroBonus and it has the Scandinavian Lounge and Business Lounge as its member lounge. Joining Star Alliance for its alliance program, the airline operates a fleet size of 155, with 18 orders, catering flights to approximately 150 destinations. Operating from its headquarters located at Stockholm, Sweden, Scandinavian Airlines is under the company, SAS AB. It takes on the company slogan of, “It’s Scandinavian.”

Company Profile

The Scandinavian Airlines System, or SAS for short, is actually a multinational airline for Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. It is also considered the leading carrier amongst Scandinavian countries. Owned by SAS AB and currently based in Stockholm, Sweden, the airline is actually a founding member of renowned Star Alliance. Apart from that, Scandinavian Airlines is also the founder of airBaltic and Air Greenland. The airline has 3 primary hubs located at the Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport, and the Oslo-Gardermoen Airport. As of 2006, Scandinavian Airlines already has 25 million passengers under its belt, and the SAS Group as well has a recorded 38.6 million passengers.

Scandinavian Airlines Subsidiaries

Scandinavian Airlines International – takes on intercontinental traffic for SAS International Group, covering long haul routes to Asia and North America right out of its main hub located in Copenhagen, as well as the one in Stockholm. Apart from that, Scandinavian Airlines International is in charge of all the sales units functioning outside Scandinavia.

Scandinavian Airlines Danmark – takes on traffic from Copenhagen to European countries, as well as from Copenhagen to Oslo. Scandinavian Airlines DK is also responsible for Danish domestic routes and the sales units operating within Denmark.

Sales units operating in Norway are also under the jurisdiction of Scandinavian Airlines Norge.

Scandinavian Airlines Fleet

Airbus aircraft models include A319-100, A321-200, A330-300, and A340-300. Boeing aircraft models include 737-400, 737-500, 737-600, 737-700, and 737-800. McDonnell Douglas models include MD-81, MD-82, and MD-87. Aside from these aircraft models, Scandinavian Airlines also flies the Bombardier CRJ-900 and the Fokker 50.
