Overview

Cancun is Mexico’s coastal city situated on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is the most popular city of Mexico. It is the rapidly growing city with an estimated population of 705,000 a twenty percent increase from its previous census. The skylines changes here quickly. The Yucatan Peninsula separates Cancun from Mexico. It is also called with the name Mayan Riviera or Mexican Caribbean. It is the world’s renowned tourist place. The city center is situated on the mainland of lagoon, a 7 shaped island. You can find most of the beach hotels in the major tourist areas. At that time it was having only three residents and about 117 people in the nearby island Puerto Juarez. It was also considered as fishing village and military base. Due to the lack of investors the Mexican government personally financed to open up nine hotels in Cancun. The first hotel Playa Blanca was later rebuilt into a beautiful resort to attract the tourists who visiting this city.

Climate / Weather

Cancun undergoes tropical climate with dry and warm climate all the time. There is little difference in temperature between different seasons but comes down during rainy seasons. Cancun is warm throughout the year with moderate onshore winds bothering the people. The average annual temperature recorded here is about 27.1 degree Celsius and highest temperature being 35 degree Celsius. The annual rainfall is about 1340mm and rain comes 115 days in a year. February is the fresh and March being the drier month.

Transportation

It is easy to travel around the Cancun. The perfect roads in this city easily connect any commuter to airport to the northern part of the city. Buses are most eligible transportation facility and are frequent and cheap to travel in city. The drivers are very clever and speak in English too. You can also avail the services of rails to travel between different suburbs. ADO is the national company offering bus facilities to various tourist destinations in Cancun.
