Overview

The elongated and spindleness makes the Republic of Chile the world’s most geographically unique country. This long and narrow country stretches right alongside the Pacific coast of South America. In the north, it borders Peru, Argentina is to the East, and Pacific harbors it to the West and South. On the eastern border of the country, the beautiful Andes Mountain range is located. The distinctive ribbon shape of Chile is about 4,300km long and 175 kilometer wide in an average. The native language is Spanish and its currency is Chilean peso. More than 70 percent people are Roman Catholic. The most popular sport of Chile is association football (soccer), appearing eight times in World cup final, Chile host the 1962 FIFA world cup. Copihue is the national flower of Chile which is grown in the woods of Southern Chile. Santiago is the country’s capital that holds close to Andes and Chilean Coastal mountain range. As the cosmopolitan city, it has several museums, buildings representatives of Spanish art culture and recreational parks are of the great amazement to travelers. The best way to see them is just simply walk on foot, watch and enjoy. Beside this is the Capital, Santiago has a wide range of hostels, motels, restaurants for accommodation of travelers. The tourism has gained the exponential growth during last decade. The main attractions for tourists are Valley of the Moon, Chungara Lake, Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes. Beside these Nahuelbuta National Park and Torres del Paine National Park are the main tourist sites. The standard of living and economic growth rate are highest in Chile. The people of Chile are very friendly and genial to the tourists. Besides these features, the beautiful landscapes and the rich diversity of wildlife making Chile an ideal place for tourist from all around the globe.

Climate / Weather

The climate of Chile comprises of a wide range of weather condition, making generalization difficult. It is the first South American country having four seasons in a country: summer (December to February), autumn (March to May), winter (June to August) and spring (September to November).

The best time to go to Chile is in summer (December to February) because major cultural events and carnivals are held in summer.

Transportation

As talking about getting around in Chile, the airport infra-structure is good. The bus system is cheap and provides comfortable to going form one town to another. Rental cars are also widely available in Chile, through out most of the major cities.
