Monastery of St Jerome; this is the monastery that was built during the 16th century and the tomb of the explorer Vasco da Gama is there.

When to Travel

If you are concerned on when you are able to visit Lisbon, you will be happy to know that you can visit the place anytime of the year since the weather is always mild and there are no extreme climate conditions. In case it is very hot in the summer, you can be surprised to find out that the evenings are cold. It rains mostly during the winter months and spring is the best time that you can visit Lisbon.

Transportation

You can reach the Lisbon by plane, however there is also a train from Madrid that takes at least 10 hours. Most of the European Airlines have fly connection to Lisbon ( KLM, British Airways, Alitalia, Air France and Lufthansa). There are also many low cost airlines that can take you to Lisbon, (there are Monarch, Air Berlin, Vueling, EasyJet and Monarich.

However, the Top Portugal has connection to many large European cities. The Portuguese airline has been the voted among the safest 10 airline in the world.
