Overview

Madrid is the largest and capital of Spain. The city is known for the great artistic and cultural heritage, here the example is the El Prado museum. Madrid is also known to be among the best nightlife in the whole world.

The city is located in the middle of Spanish central and all the most place to visit are found in the city center. Those places are Plaza Mayor, Puerta del sol, Palacio Real with Plaza de Colon. Major Street in Madrid are Alcala Street, Paseo de la Castellana and Gran Via.

The Madrid culture has been influenced by Royal History which was Spanish Empire. There are still some traces of the royal monarchy, churches and cathedrals, however there are many modern culture, lifestyle and architectures.

In Madrid, it is hard to find someone who speaks English, this is why you may learn first some words in English to save you the headache.

Climate and Weather

Madrid climate is continental and it is normally dry and sometime it can be too extreme. It has the sunshine for most of the time and it has dry and hot summer. The Autumn and Spring have the most of the rainfall and they are the best time to from April to June and September with October. The snow in Madrid lasts for few days.

Transportation

If you want to use the plane, you will be using the Madrid Barajas International airport. It has 4 terminals with a low-cost carrier. Train, there are a train the works between Madrid and different other cities such as Seville, Barcelona, Tarragona, Zaragoza, Lisbon, Paris and Ciudad Real. By bus; there are many intercity bus stations with enormous international. By car; you can get rental facility from the airport or train stations. If you are alone in the car in the city of Madrid, you have always to move around with a map or a GPS navigation.

When to Travel

If you can stand the heat, you can visit Madrid in August; however, you will not find many people in the area since most of them go to the beach during this time.

In the September, many things come to life since the temperatures goes down and everyone gets back from vacation. The heat begins in June and the city get it in Terraza culture with many parties because the summer has already come. In October, the work returns in town with warm temperatures. Do not visit Madrid in July since the days are hot and everyone is in bad mood.
