Manila is home to many world famous educational and scientific institutions with great prominence to traditional culture and education. This city was built in the midst of 10th century. It was under Islamic rule and ruled by sultan bolkiah. Later many Americans and Philippines contributed a lot to the urban development of manila. This city was undergone lot of devastation during the time of world war second. Manila was first called with the name Ginto means land of gold. It was the kingdom of maynila.

Manila comes under koppen climate system. The tropical system of manila resembles the savanna climate and lies within the tropics. Since it is in equator region the temperature range of manila is very small. The temperature in manila city varies from 200 Celsius to 380 Celsius. The humidity levels are high all the time and offers warm feeling. It has very small dry season for a period of four months. It starts in January and ends in April. Wet season is lengthy from May to December. Because of its large industrial coverage it contributes most to the pollution. It produces about 150 tons of domestic waste every year.

Transportation
Manila is the best place to tour all the time. Jeepneys are best way to travel around the city but it is suggested to not to use this service as there are chances of night crimes. When compared to Jeepneys taxis are affordable and comfortable. In order to attract the tourists the city transportation service has reduced its cost to a greater extent. Tricycles are also the best option to travel. Water buses are cheap but run in the water only. These water buses have introduced by non government organizations with the cooperation of local government. Baywalk, Chinatown, mabini shrine and coconut palace are some of the tourist attractions.
