Overview
Mumbai formerly called as Bombay and the capital of Maharashtra, a state in India. It is one of the popular cities in India and fifth most populous in world. The population of this city is about 12.5 million. Some of the urban areas near to Mumbai are thane and navy Mumbai. It is the popular urban region in the world. It is located on the west coast with natural harbor. Mumbai is also called with the name alpha world city. It is India’s richest city with highest density population in central Asia. It is also considered as fishing colony of India. People do fishing here for centuries. Even though it is founded by Portuguese it was ruled by British is the early 90’s. East India company was stared all its operations from here only. In the early 18th century British people reshaped the entire city with lot of civil work. Mumbai was served as a strong base during the independence movement. After India became independent it was merged into Maharashtra and renamed as Mumbai in the year 1995. Mumbai is also considered as entertainment and commercial capital of India generating 5 percent of the India’s total revenue. 25 percent of Mumbai is comprises of industries.

Mumbai undergoes tropical climate. According to the koppen climate classification it comprises of both wet and dry climate and dryness comprising the most for seven months. The average temperature of Mumbai is 23.70 Celsius. Its maximum temperature is 31.20 Celsius. In the suburbs of Mumbai the temperature ranges from 29 to 33 degrees. Its minimum temperature is 16.3 degree Celsius. The city recorded its highest temperature in the year 1982 with a confirmation of 40.20 C and lowest of 7.40 C on January 1982. The annual rainfall recorded here is 3452 mm. its monsoon season starts in June and ends in September.

Transportation
Mumbai is a good place to tour with lot of surprises. People here mostly relay on public transportation. Taxi or an auto is a good option to ride in the city. The taxis are cheap and costs about $18. Most of them are medium sized with and without roof. Yellow and black are the two common colored taxies used for transportation. These taxies are more helpful to carry extra luggage especially at the more traffic places. Four people can comfortably sit inside a taxi with 1 in front and 3 in back seat. Auto rickshaws are also part of cheap transportation.
