Overview

Shanghai is China’s most popular city. It is situated in eastern china in the middle of Chinese coast. It is near to the river Yangtze River. It attained recognition of global city because of its extensive growth in past two decades. It is the center for technology, culture, trade and commerce. It is also called as textile town. The city has seen great improvements in the early 19th century. It was one of the first cities to open up for trade by treaty of Nanking in the year 1842. Later it turned into a commerce center covering both east and west china. It became a multinational hub for both business and finance in the early 1930’s. Shanghai was mostly ruled by communist party and taken over in the year 1949. In the year 1990 economical reformation was reintroduced aiming to redevelop the city. It future it is expected to become a global city for major financial centers. It is also a place for historical landmarks. It contributes a major to the economical growth of china and hence described as showpiece of economy of China.

Climate /Weather

The Shanghai city is mostly exposed to humid and subtropical climate according to the koppen classification. It passes through four different seasons. Winter season is habitually damp and chilly. During cold season the strong winds blew from Siberia and have chances to cause nightmares by freezing the temperature. City will see snowfall for two or three days in a year. Summers are hot and humid. In a year the temperature exceeds 350C at an average of 8.7 days. Occasional thunderstorms can also be seen. Shanghai is vulnerable to typhoons in the start of autumn and summer. Shanghai reported average temperature of 4.20 C, highest temperature of 40.20C and lowest temperature of -12.10C. The average sunshine per year is about 1878 hours per year. Its total ice free days are about 276 days a year.

Transportation

Shanghai is best place to travel. It is the place for historical monuments and landmarks.
