1. Food allergies know their equivalent names.
If you are allergic to certain foods, you need to research first what are the equivalent names of such foods in the native language within the area. This is important if you are going to a country where English is not their first language. This will help you avoid eating food that might lead you to having an allergy.
2. Diseases common in the area.
There are certain destinations wherein some diseases are bit common like malaria, diarrhea, and the like. Do a thorough research first as to the different types of diseases which is common and most often do occur within the area. This will help you get prepared physically and of course be very protective of yourself.
3. Get vaccinations.
Before you even attempt to go to another country, it is important to get the required vaccinations. This will help you to be protected and not get sick within the course of the trip. If you do have certain reactions to vaccination like getting flu or getting headaches for couple of days, then you must get it ahead of time. In this way, you will be all set and ready when you are going to another country for a holiday.
4. Avoid drinking water from the area.
Drinking tap water within the area is not advisable. Most often, this will lead you having diarrhea and different kinds of bacteria will start living inside your stomach. To be safe, drink only bottled water, carbonated drinks and cocktails without ice.
5. Never eat raw food.
Not unless you like eating sushi or Japanese food and getting used to eating such cuisine, then you might reconsider. But if you are in another country which is not Japan, then you must not eat raw foods. It is because it is one good source of getting sick.
6. Use straws or wipe the can or glass before drinking.
It is advisable to use straws when you are going to drink or you can wipe the top of the can or the rim of the glass before you even start drinking. This will lessen the chances of you getting sick.
